Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA)

The Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) is a collaborative of foundations with a mission to amplify the power of people and the potential of forests for a just and climate-resilient world.

For more than a decade, the CLUAs funder collaborative members have aligned around a shared strategy for supporting the world’s tropical forests. In this critical time for humanity and for our planet’s climate, forests, and diversity of life, the alliance is reaffirming their collective commitment. The Alliance seeks to realize the potential of forests and land use to mitigate climate change, benefit people, and protect the environment.

From local to global scales, the Alliance is a collaborative of foundations, supporting those working to change the social, economic, and political dynamics that drive tropical deforestation and undermine people’s rights and well-being. They support the power of civil society organizations to advance collective action for a just and climate-resilient world.

Through the CLUA, by bringing together their resources and diverse expertise, the alliance seeks to support viable solutions and mobilize greater funding to conserve and restore forests and more sustainably use land. They align diverse expertise, resources, and networks to leverage their support to conserve and restore forests, and advance justice and climate resilience.

Their teams based in tropical forest regions and around the world support work at the global level and in Brazil, Indonesia, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Central America.

They coordinate with other funders to accelerate progress toward shared goals of raising more support and moving more resources to organizations working to halt and reverse tropical deforestation by hosting Forests, People, Climate, a collaborative of philanthropic donors, civil society, and community-based organizations.
