WCS Marine Protected Area Fund
The WCS MPA Fund was launched in September 2016, with a goal of raising 15 million dollars for MPA initiatives in 20 countries and instituting meaningful, lasting protections for critical marine habitats and threatened marine species on a global basis. Through the MPA Fund, WCS expects to create more than one million square kilometers (km2) of new protected areas, and to specifically assist countries meet the United Nations target of protecting ten percent of their coastal and marine waters by 2020.
