Global Forest Coalition

The Global Forest Coalition (GFC) is an international alliance of non-governmental organizations and Indigenous Peoples’ groups working together to promote forest conservation and restoration, as well as to defend the rights of forest communities and Indigenous Peoples. Founded in 2000, GFC focuses on addressing the root causes of deforestation and forest degradation, such as industrial agriculture, intensive livestock farming, and unsustainable development policies. The coalition conducts campaigns, research, and advocacy at the global level, demanding solutions based on social justice, gender equity, and respect for human and environmental rights. Additionally, GFC promotes community-based, sustainable alternatives for forest management and actively participates in international forums such as the United Nations and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
