African Alliance for Sustainable Cities and Built Environment
The African Alliance for Sustainable Cities and Built Environments is developed by the Africa Regional Network of the World Green Building Council.
The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) catalyses the uptake of sustainable built environments for everyone, everywhere. Their mission is to transform the building and construction sector across three strategic areas: climate action, health & wellbeing, and resources & circularity. They are a global action network comprised of around 70 Green Building Councils around the globe. As members of the UN Global Compact, they work with businesses, organisations and governments to drive the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Through a systems change approach, their network is leading the industry towards a net zero carbon, healthy, equitable and resilient built environment. WorldGBCS Africa Regional Network is made up of 15GBCs (Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda) who are responding to these challenges and opportunities on the ground.
